The Frenship ISD Board of Trustees extended congratulations to various Frenship High School athletes and coaches for their successes both on the courts and in the classrooms. The recognition took place Monday night during the Board’s monthly meeting.
FHS volleyball players Ashley Kilpatrick, Courtney Boring and Sydnie Smith received recognition for their selection to the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 6A Academic All-State Volleyball Team this season. Criteria for Academic All-State selection include the athletes must be graduating seniors who have an overall grade point average of 94 or above during their high school career, they must be a varsity participant or member of the support staff of that sport in good standing, and they must be of good moral character.
Eight Tiger football players were honored at the meeting for their selection to the Texas High School Coaches Association Class 6A Academic All-State this season. The Frenship football players receiving this honor included Justyce Bocanegra, Nick McCauley, Camdyn Caravelli, Tanner Eggeling, Mason Weathers, Trey Odom, Jacob Eugenis, Isaiah Williams and Zach Morgan.
The THSCA Academic All-State Teams recognize high school athletes who excel in GPA, class rank and ACT/SAT score. FHS head football coach Jay Northcutt recognized his student athletes for their effort both on the field and in the classroom.
The Board also recognized FHS Head Girls’ Basketball Coach Trent Hilliard for his 300th career coaching victory. The historic win came Tuesday, November 14 at the Tiger Pit when the Tigers beat Claude 48-43. Coach Hilliard is in his fourth year at Frenship and his fifteenth year coaching overall. Prior to FHS, he coached at Wellington from 1999-2001 and Lubbock Cooper from 2005-2014.
Hilliard and the Tigers are currently 21-6 this season.
