2018 FHS graduate Joshua Kennon received an end-of-summer surprise in the form of a $6,000 scholarship from the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation.
Kennon competed in UIL Applications during his sophomore, junior and senior year. He advanced to State Academic UIL competions during his junior and senior year. In order to qualify for the scholarship, a student must have participated at the state level in a UIL competition at least once. Applicants were also required to fill out an extensive scholarship.
According to the TILF blog the competition for this year’s applicant pool was highly competitive. 293 awards were given out of the 700 applicants.
