FRENSHIP HOMECOMING: Recap of Festivities

The Frenship community celebrated big with the 2018 Homecoming festivities last week. Students, parents, staff, alum, and the whole community joined together in Frenship spirit to enjoy old traditions and make new memories.

The week kicked off with dress up days on each campus and progressed to spirit day on Friday. Blue and gold could be seen at every turn as students and staff painted their hair, wore tattoos, crafted signs, flew their flags and wore Frenship colors from head to toe.

Thursday night introduced a new event to the district with Dinner with the Tigers – a special night for the community to interact with the football team and head coach, Jay Northcutt. Friday morning was set aside for alumni with a four-person scramble golf tournament and Friday afternoon hosted the pre-game tailgate event with vendors from the community.

Friday night during the pre-game Homecoming ceremony, Jake English and Avery Dear were named the 2018 Homecoming King and Queen for FHS and the game kicked off against Midland Lee at 7:30 pm. During halftime, a presentation was made to honor former Frenship coaches, Bobbie Davis and Don Black. The presentation formalized Bobbie Davis Drive around the athletic complex and made official the naming of the Coach Don Black Track within Peoples Bank Stadium. Davis and his wife, the Black family and dozens of former athletes were in attendance for the presentation. Click here for the video played during the presentation.

Friday night ended with a post-game event at 4ORE! Golf where proceeds benefited the Frenship Foundation. Frenship coach, Lonnie Kuss, performed country music with his band while several former players and students came out to support him.

Even under rainy conditions, the show went on at the Harvest Festival in Wolfforth on Saturday. A parade, color run and crowning of the Harvest Queen were a few of the festivities that day. Saturday ended with a concert in the part and fireworks show.
