The 2018-2019 school year officially kicked off on August 8 with the FISD Back to School Convocation. All 1,200 staff members filed into the FHS Tiger Pit for an exciting back to school pep rally.
Before the event started at 9:00 am, staff members were served breakfast by Carpet Tech. A buffet of breakfast burritos and fruit was prepared and served by the Carpet Tech staff. Kinetico offered complimentary bottled water for everyone in attendance.
The event started with the largest team building activity in the district’s history. FHS student, Josh Fredenburg got the crowd on their feet for a friendly “Just Dance” competition. Staff divided into four teams could be seen dancing to One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” compilation.
Following the dance competition, festivities included performances by the FHS cheerleaders, dance team, the Tiger band and the singing of the national anthem by Samantha Gang, FHS student.
A few staff members were recognized for honors they had received in the 2017-2018 school year and there were also recognitions for new administrators in the district.
To honor the two-week mark from the start of school, a special group of Frenship students and staff acted out the story of “A Day in the Life of a Frenship Student” as told by the popular video game Fortnite. The skit progressed through a series of several of the Fortnite dances including the Floss, Hype, the Robot and many more.
To conclude the event, The Frenship Way SERVE model was introduced through a video comprised of photos from around the district. The SERVE model represents the characteristics that embody the culture of FISD with the words: Smile, Engage, Respect, Volunteer and Encourage.
The event was made successful by an entire community of Frenship supporters. Frenship ISD would like to thank the following sponsors for their support of Convocation: 4ORE! Golf, Carpet Tech, Chick-Fil-A, Frenship Foundation, Frenship Vet Clinic, Grand Canyon University, Happy State Bank, Horace Mann, King’s Highway, Nick’s Fight Club, Slate Group, South Plains Electric Cooperative, Texas Tech Credit Union, Tech Tech Physicians and Wayland Baptist University. Frenship ISD would also like to extend a special thank you to all the staff members who volunteered their time and talent to making Convocation a success.
Approximately 10,000 students will flood the halls of Frenship ISD campuses on August 20. With Convocation as an explosive start to the new school year, Frenship ISD is poised to enter another exciting and successful school year.
