Middle school scholars used their “Fun FISH Friday” to make donations for a local charity.
On the Friday before progress reports and the end of the six weeks, students at Heritage Middle School are rewarded for meeting academic and integrity standards through “Fun FISH Friday”. Students have the option to choose from activities such as movies in the cafeteria, dodge ball tournaments, guitar lessons, and more.
Several students chose to give their time back to others.
Thanks to a small grant from the Volunteer Center of Lubbock, members of Student Council hosted the opportunity to make blankets for The Children’s Home of Lubbock.
Students lined the hall as they carefully measured out flannel to hand-tie each of the donated blankets.
6th grader Bree Bruchett thought the project was a great way to take a break from the schools’ regular schedule and support a local charity.
“I really like to do fun crafts, and this way I can do something I love and give back to a good cause!” said Bruchett.
