Sixty years ago in 1959 music legend Buddy Holly, who was a Lubbock native, died in a plane crash. Holly, along with Ritchie Valens, J. P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson and their pilot were killed en route to a concert and the event later became known as “The Day the Music Died.”

With the anniversary of the crash coming in just a few days, fifth graders at Upland Heights Elementary rocked out to songs from the fifties and dressed the part as well.
