Tiger Baseball Captures District Title With Sweep of Midland Lee

The Frenship Tiger baseball team wrapped up the 2018 District 2-6A championship last with a two-game sweep of Midland Lee. Here’s a recap of the action:

FRENSHIP 15, MIDLAND LEE 5: The Tiger bats were hot in Midland Tuesday as FHS scored in four of five innings and collected 14 hits to made quick work of Lee in a 15-5 run-rule victory. Caden Jenkins led the team with a 3-for-3 day at the plate, Riley Robinson added a mammoth home run to add to the offensive output. Kade Gilbert, Mason Weathers and Dakota Champagne all contributed with multiple hits as well. Colton Brown was the winning pitcher with a complete game performance on the mound.

FRENSHIP 10, MIDLAND LEE 1: Starting pitcher Brock Erculiani collected 14 strikeouts while allowing only one run, and the Tiger offense collected double-digit runs for the fourth time in five games as the Tigers captured the outright district title with a 10-1 win over Lee Friday afternoon. FHS took control with a five-run second inning that included an RBI single by Justyce Bocanegra and an RBI triple by Mason Weathers. Bocanegra and Dakota Champagne each had two hits in the game.

The district champion Tigers (26-4) are currently winners of seven games in a row. They wrap up the regular season of their schedule this week with a two-game set versus Midland High. FHS travels to Midland on Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch before the two teams come to Wolfforth Friday at 7:00 p.m.
