The Frenship volleyball team swept through a weekend full of competition to claim the championship of the Nita Vannoy Memorial Tournament last weekend in San Angelo. The tourney title marks the team’s first of the 2018 season.
The Tigers won a back-and-forth battle with Lubbock Coronado in the championship match 20-25, 25-16, 25-23 to claim the title.
FHS started the tournament on Friday with three straight-set victories against Marble Falls, Del Rio and Wink. The perfect run on Friday put the Tigers in Saturday’s gold bracket.
After a 25-16, 25-13 win against Andrews in the quarterfinals, FHS battled to a hard fought 25-23, 25-22 semifinal win against Bushland to move in to the championship match.
