Tiger Wrestlers Claim Two Big Dual Wins Versus Canyon

On a special night that was the first-ever Senior Night in program history, the Frenship Tiger wrestling team put on a show with two dual wins versus Canyon Tuesday night at the FHS Ninth Grade Center gymnasium.

Junior D.J. Garza, who normally competes in the 160-pound class, bumped up a weight class to take on one of the best Canyon had to offer. In a back-and-forth battle, Garza came out on top with a decisive pin to seal the dual win for the team.

Junior Justin Thompson also won his match in the 138-pound weight class with a come from behind pin over his opponent.

On Thursday, January 17, sixteen JV wrestlers competed in Amarillo with outstanding results. Zach Williams, Brock Rice, Harrison Green and Adam Alvarado all placed third in their respective weight class, Isaiah placed second, and coming away with a tournament championship and gold medal was junior Jordan Thompson.

Congratulations to all the wrestlers on a great and competitive day.
